Patients’ Sports and Fitness Volunteer
About this Role
To support the provision of sports & fitness activities. The Skye Centre provides a wide range of activities for patients including football, volleyball, general fitness sessions, inter-team competitions, fitness assessments & fitness advice. Patients participate in team or individual activities and are encouraged and supported to try new activities, work as a team and build confidence in their own abilities. The volunteer will provide input with the team of staff facilitating these activities.

All volunteers will be expected to complete a comprehensive induction programme which includes attendance at Breakaway Training, an Occupational Health assessment and mandatory training modules / workshops. You will also require to have had both Covid-19 vaccinations and the booster dose. You will be provided with LFT kits and will be expected to undertake a LFT prior to attending the Hospital. You will be expected to complete a Disclosure Scotland Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme check which encompasses all unspent and certain spent criminal convictions.
Minimum Age
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Time Requirements
One three hour session per week for a minimum of 12 months.
Potential volunteers will be risk assessed in accordance with volunteering guidance. All potential volunteers must complete the NHS Recruitment process, which includes appropriate clearance from Disclosure Scotland, and satisfactory health & reference checks.
Expenses
The nationally agreed NHS Scotland travel reimbursement rate will apply. All reasonable expenses directly relating to this role will be reimbursed in discussion with the Person Centred Improvement Lead.
