Patient Visitors / Carers (Family & Friends)

Feedback is welcome in the form of compliments, comments, concerns and complaints either verbally in person or over the phone, via email, through onsite suggestion boxes, by post, or through questionnaires. Patient visitors, as members of the public, can observe Board meetings.

Visitors’ Reception Area & Family Centre

All patient visitors access the Hospital via the Visitors’ Reception Area which is located within the main State Hospital Reception building. It is on the left as you enter and is open daily.

Remember to arrive 15 minutes prior to the visiting time and adhere to security procedures for all visitors.

There are personal lockers for storing items that are not being brought into the Hospital.  All items must be removed following your visit.

On your first visit, please remember to bring photographic identification with you. When this identification has been checked, Reception staff will then take your photograph for your visitor pass. This pass must be displayed on your person at all times, and returned to the Visitors’ Reception Area at the end of your visit.

The Family Centre is the centralised visiting area where the majority of adult visits take place. There are also dedicated child visiting sessions.

Facilities within both the Visitors’ Reception Area and Family Centre include WCs with a dedicated baby changing area, a private meeting room, and tea and coffee making facilities. From the Family Centre there is also access to an outdoor garden area.
